Y'all don't waste any time, do you?  Are you all subscribed to this via RSS feed or something?  Or can you all read my mind and know when I post?

I'm beginning to wonder why I haven't canceled this account yet.  Hmm.  Maybe it's so I can post the occasional drabble (like this one) when I get bored.

OHMYGOSH RING WEEKEND!

I had such an amazing time.  My ring is beautiful (and big!), Tyler had a great time (and he, on principle, detests school dances), we both looked gorgeous, and the food was great :)  They didn't do fireworks on the drillfield because, unfortunately, it rained all weekend.  The weather is beautiful now, of course.  >.<

Pictures are on Facebook and I'm waiting for my friend's boyfriend to email some around (he's got a professional-grade camera and is sort of a photography nut).

Of course now it's time to get back to the real world.  I have 2 tests this week and 3 next week.  Ew.

Just like a circus...

So I figured it's pretty pointless of me to update this anymore because the only people who ever bothered to read it can now Facebook-stalk me... but someone (rather unexpected) asked me why I haven't written anything in forever so... this is for him :)

So.  Where to start?

The Universe Just Exploded

...Mammaw got a Facebook.

I'm still kind of in shock.

I guess the only coherent thought I have right now is that I hope I'm as cool and good with technology as she is when I'm a grandmother...

First, about pictures:
The only pictures that I have that no one else has from Christmas can be found here:
http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2319243&l=33f1a&id=6238040

Mom has all of my Christmas '08 pictures, including these, on her computer so she can upload them to her photo site.  Also, I'm fresh out of blank CD's, so if you'd like a CD please ask her.

Second:
I have a job!  At the Student Call Center.  Orientation to their computer system is next Sunday, then I get to start calling people and begging for money.

Third:
Yes, someone was killed tonight at the Graduate Life Center.  No, I don't know who it was or any of the details.  They have someone in custody and are telling us to stay away from the GLC right now.  That's all anybody knows.

Fourth:
March for Life is tomorrow...

So, it's that day.  The one that some have been looking forward to more than the second coming of Christ and others have been dreading.

I am talking, of course, about the first day of classes for spring semester.

Here's a bit of what I've been doing instead of watching TV:

This should be a fun little post.

There are lots of good movies out right now, and more that will be coming to theaters this year and the next.  Here's a line-up of what I want to see (though I doubt I'll actually see them in theaters).

Oh comments, how I love thee.

I wish to point out that the next time someone wants to accuse me of being snarky (like right now, for instance), remember that I inherited that ability from you.

In other news, the semester is over. I think I came out okay.  My first exam was easy (as I expected it to be), my second two were easier than expected, and my last two were just as hard as I'd assumed they'd be.  And now I have one whole month before the entire excruciating process starts over again.

Here's to vacation!

This post is long overdue.

Hey folks!

Clearly, I got my computer fixed.  It was a harrowing battle in which many a good soldier was injured, but in the end, victory was ours.

What did I learn?

My computer died.

I woke up this morning to a screen reading "operating system cannot be found."

An operating system is a pretty big deal for a computer.

Current hypothesis by those who know computers: my harddrive (or at least part of it) crashed/failed/is corrupted.  Just randomly.  And of course I had nothing backed up, so it's all gone.

All of it.

Pictures, videos, music, stuff I was writing, programs I'd downloaded/otherwise installed, cookies, SCHOOL WORK, ALL OF MY NOTES FOR ALL OF MY CLASSES...it's kind of a big deal.

Will update you if/when anything gets fixed.

Major sadface :(

So, I owe you a post.

I don't really want to talk about politics anymore (like, ever again).  For about a week now, I've been keeping myself sane with the following observation:

Obama stands no chance of being re-elected.  Either he will not be able to live up to his campaign promises because, by nature, our government makes it difficult to enact drastic changes, and his hardcore supporters will say he failed them, or- and this is what I fear- he WILL get everything he promised accomplished, his drones will learn the hard way exactly what "Change" means, Republicans will get to say "I told you so,", and as the country goes to hell no one will want to re-elect him.

The more I discuss this idea with people, the more I'm becoming convinced that the latter is more likely.  The phrase being tossed about amongst those in the know is that Obama will likely "pull a Clinton," only perhaps worse.

Well, it's over.  I wanted to wait until I was calm enough to make a rational, thought-out post, but I'm not so sure that's going to come anytime soon.

I'm really not so proud to be an American right now. )

Huh. That's odd. Turns out the Pass in Review was at 11am, not 9am. Much easier to wake up for.

I captured some video if you want to watch. You'll notice that some of the poor horn players in the HT's were awful cold that morning (I bet Elizabeth can sympathize). Also, towards the end, when they play the fight song, you'll hear a faint 'boom' and notice that the camera shakes erratically for a second or two, and I chuckled a little- they fired Skipper the cannon and took me off-guard a bit ^_^

Oh, and I just now put this on YouTube, so it might not work quite yet.  Give it until tonight (Sunday night) and it'll definitely be posted.

 This is short, I promise.

Saturday is Parents' Day, which involves lots of fun activities so freshmen can show their families around campus, let them know that they're all grown up now and can do this moving out thing.  The best of these activities happens early-ish on Saturday morning...

 I hate politics.

No, really.

I don't honestly have time to be writing this, but I feel the need to get this desperate plea out there.

"The Virginia Tech Ring Collection has become one of the University's most revered and prestigious traditions since its beginnings in 1914.  The Ring program is unique from other colleges in that the collection is completely redesigned each year, making it a highly anticipated tradition within the University.

The first Class Ring at Virginia Tech belonged to the Class of 1911, but it was the Class of 1914 that selected the first Ring Design Committee, a special group of students charged with the task of designing a Class Ring that would be unique an meaningful to their class.  Ninety-nine years later, the Ring Design Committee of the class still has the unique responsibility of designing a ring collection that represents Virginia Tech and serves as a reflection of the memories and traditions that each class will take with them when they leave Tech....The design, collection, and the namesake are revealed to the Class during the fall of their junior year at Ring Premiere."
